The Voice and Velopharyngeal dysfunction program at BCH is involved in clinical research in several areas, with collaboration between our physicians, speech-language pathologists, and nurses.  Areas of research focus include:

  • Vocal fold nodules, treatment, progression
  • Vocal fold dysfunction
  • Voice outcomes of pre-term infants
  • Voice aberrations associated with use of vagal nerve stimulators in children
  • Voice quality associated with vocal fold immobility
  • Laryngeal abnormalities in children with congenital tracheoesophageal fistula and esophageal atresia
  • Use of MR angiogram imaging in children with 22q11 deletion syndrome
